In an undeniably big game, the main man Sadio Mane shone brightly as his two goals in three minutes saw Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0.

Those two quick fire efforts were enough to ensure that Liverpool received 3 points. Meanwhile, Tottenham are now 10 points behind the league leaders Chelsea. Next they come up against 12th placed Burnley who they will host at White Hart Lane.

Liverpool made only one change after the loss against Hull City with Wijnaldum replacing Emre Can. However, Tottenham were unchanged from their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

This was the first time that Liverpool have won in the league all year. Despite this fact, the reds made a fast start to proceedings at Anfield as they looked very confident on the ball and were utilising their flanks often.

Liverpool opened the scoring in the 16th minute when the home team won the ball back near the centre circle, before Wijnaldum sent a defence splitting through ball to Mane who cooly and calmly thrashed the ball into the top right corner of the goal.

Tottenham were a bit off pace during the first half as shown two minutes after Mane’s first goal when Eric Dier miscontrolled it which was stolen by Mane who squared it into Adam Lallana who stung the keeper Lloris hand’s.

However, the french keeper couldn’t hold onto it as the ball landed invitingly in front of Firmino. He took the shot on but that too was saved by Lloris.

Fortunately for Liverpool, that man Mane was lurking around the six yard box when the ball dropped in front of him. Needless to say, Mane finished it immaculately as he smashed it into the top right corner.

Klopp has said that the next 12 games for Liverpool are very important. Will Liverpool keep up with the pressure, or will they finish like in other seasons?
