Liverpool FC passion met Clare Valley hospitality recently when members of the Official Liverpool Supporters Club Adelaide headed north for a special day out at Claymore Wines.
Hosted by Jade and Jon at Claymore’s cellar door in Leasingham, South Australia, the intimate gathering brought together Liverpool supporters for an afternoon of great wine, good food and plenty of Reds conversation.
Among those attending was Wayne Psaila, founder of The L Files, the long-running Australian Liverpool FC fan community, adding another link to the rich history of Liverpool support in South Australia.
The day centred around Claymore’s famous Boot Room, a fitting setting given the winery’s long-standing connection with Liverpool FC. Claymore’s passion for the Reds dates back many years, with the winery having been the Official Liverpool Football Club Tour 2015 Match Sponsor for the Adelaide visit before becoming the club’s Official Wine Partner in Australia from 2015 to 2018.
Today, that connection lives on through Claymore’s YNWA range and its collection of Liverpool-inspired wines and memorabilia. The winery describes its YNWA wines as the combination of three of its passions: wine, music and football.
For the OLSC Adelaide group, however, this was about much more than simply tasting wine.
The afternoon featured an intimate tasting followed by lunch in the Boot Room, with the bubbles flowing and a generous serving of Scouse prepared by Jon proving to be one of the highlights of the day.
And judging by the reaction from the supporters, the Scouse certainly lived up to expectations.
The group thanked Jade and Jon for their hospitality, describing the food and wine as incredible and the Scouse as “perfect”. Most importantly, the day provided an opportunity for members of the Adelaide Liverpool community to get together, share their passion for the club and enjoy some great South Australian hospitality.
Claymore Wines’ cellar door sits at the gateway to the Clare Valley in Leasingham and offers seated tastings alongside regional produce and an extensive range of wines. The Boot Room itself continues Claymore’s distinctive blend of wine and Liverpool culture, drawing inspiration from the famous Boot Room at Anfield.
For OLSC Adelaide, the visit looks set to be the first of many.
With the group already announcing Saturday 5 December as the date for another get-together, there is clearly an appetite for more days where Liverpool supporters can come together, enjoy the company and celebrate what connects them — their love of the Reds.
